A Pharmacist may register additional qualifications aside from the required qualification needed to register as a Pharmacist. Such qualifications may be diplomas or degrees obtained from any University or institution relevant to Pharmacy practice.
Several employers, including the Ghana Health Service and Ministry of Health, often require higher degrees for promotion of Pharmacists. In such cases, they request for a confirmation of any relevant additional qualifications a Pharmacist may have obtained from the Council. The Council will only confirm qualifications that the Pharmacist has registered with the Council.
Pharmacists are therefore encouraged to register any additional qualifications they obtain as soon as they obtain them.
How to register an additional qualification
To apply,
- Download the ‘Additional Qualification’ form from the downloads section of our website
- Follow the instructions on the form to fill it, attach all relevant documents and submit it to any regional office
- If you need a confirmation letter to be sent to an institution regarding the qualification, please add a letter to the forms in which you state the address of the receiving institution. If you want an open letter, please state that clearly in the letter.
- The fee to be paid will be communicated to you upon assessment of your request, and whether you need a letter or not. Make the prescribed payment at any Agricultural Development Bank (ADB) and present the pay-in-slip to the regional office.
